Bamenda : Back-to-School, Mass Education Caravan Launched

The Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, Mounouna Foutsou used the occasion to call on youths to be exemplary in their behaviour and have a fighting spirit in order to succeed.
The Bamenda Military Stadium was jammed to capacity on August 24, 2024 as the Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, Mounouna Foutsou presided over four different activities that are all linked with the objective to empower youths and make them exemplary citizens for the emergence of Cameroon.
The Minister presided at the official closing ceremony of the 9th edition of the Civic and Patriotic Holiday Activities 2024. He also officially launched the Civic and Patriotic Back-to-school for the 2024-2025 academic year on the theme, “Back-to-school operation, moral, civic and entrepreneurial rearmament; a guarantee for academic success and socio-professional integration,” as well as launched the 3rd phase of the National Caravan for Mass Education on the theme, “Youth, civic engagement and economic patriotism for healthy, educative, productive and useful holidays.”
“To boost the moral of the youth of the North West Region, we came also to give support to the youth beneficiaries of the Three-year Special Youth Plan of the Head of State so that they can be assured of the socio-economic integration and particularly youths of the Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration (DDR) Centre,” the Minister added. Talking specifically about the beneficiaries of the DDR Centre, he said, they have to tell the other youths who are still in the bushes fighting government to come out and go to the DDR Centres where their projects will be financed. The support to the youths ranged from modern materials for agriculture, industry, digital economy to innovations. On details about the Three-year Special Youth Plan, Minister Mounouna Foutsou disclosed that over 14,000 youth projects have been financed and 42,000 jobs created nationally. Concerning the North West Region, he said that 855 youth projects have been financed amounting to FCFA 1.5 billion, and added that 96 of the projects are those of ex-fighters in the Bamenda DDR Centre. He called on the beneficiaries of the support to have confidence in themselves, make good use of the training they have received, be role-models to their peers and apply economic patriotism in the management of the materials and funds offered them.
