Nyong et Kelle : Bot-Makak Town Hall Inaugurated

Decentralisation and Local Development Minister, Georges Elanga Obam, commissioned the building on September 2, 2024.
The Bot-Makak town hall and the municipal lodging facility, in the Nyong et Kelle Division of the Centre Region, have been inaugurated. This dual ceremony was chaired by the Minister of Decentralisation and Local Development, Georges Elanga Obam, yesterday September 2, 2024.
Covering a surface area of 2,500 metres square, the two structures fall within the principle of accelerating the decentralisation drive by providing resilient infrastructure to the local communities. The town hall which consists of a ground floor and an upper floor, each with 13 offices, a 300 capacity bouquet hall, a secretariat and a health unit amongst others, will serve the estimated 40,0000 inhabitants of the locality. The town hall and the five modern lodging facilities of three different types were constructed with financial resources estimated at FCFA 800 million, thanks to a financing agreement signed between the Special Council Support Fund for Mutual Assistance (FEICOM), Crédit Foncier du Cameroun and the Union of Councils and Cities of Cameroon. The modern infrastructure is equally in line with the objectives of the Na- tional Development Strategy 2030 of Cameroon as revenue generated from the lodging facilities will be used to carry out development projects in the municipality. It is against this backdrop that the Minister of Decentralisation and Local Development, Georges Elanga Obam encou- raged the Mayor of the Municipality, Jean Pascal Nken Nemb, to use the resources generated from the housing units to guarantee financial equilibrium of the Council area. To the Minister, the Mayor is very practical, as seen in the simultaneous execution of the two projects in less than a year.
