Diaspora : Weekend Of Contrasting Fortunes

While the likes Bryan Mbeumo, Olivier Ntcham, Carlos Baleba, etc have been constant, other Cameroonian players in top leagues abroad were not very impressive.

While some Cameroonian players shone brightly, others faced challenges in their respective matches over the weekend. Jules Olivier Ntcham continued his impressive form in the Turkish Süper Lig, scoring twice for Samsunspor in their victory over Goztepe. The Cameroonian midfielder scored in the 70th minute and in additional time during the game played on Saturday September 28, 2024. It was Ntcham’s fourth goal of the season.
Another midfielder, Carlos Baleba was on target for his Brighton club against Chelsea in the English Premiere League. Despite losing the game that was played on Saturday 2-4, the efforts of the Cameroonian was top-notch. Still in England, Bryan Mbeumo continues his fine form. The forward scored the lone goal in Brentford’s 1-1 draw against West Ham City. Mbeumo scored the goal in the first minute of play. The Bees are the only team in Premier League history to score in the first minute of three consecutive games. It was Mbeumo’s fifth goal of the premier league this season.
Beyond England, Moumi Ngamaleu scored the winning goal in Dynamo Moscow’s 1-0 win against Dynamo-Makhachkala on Sunday September 29, 2024. Barely back from injury, it is a breakthrough for the striker that is eager to do more. Several other Cameroonians put up honourable performances despite the fact that the weekend was a sour one for others.
