Promoting Education For Peace : Bilingualism Commission Broadens Partnership

The Secretary General of the institution, Dr. Chi Asafor Cornelius yesterday received the Director of the Mahamat Ghandi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development.

Within the framework of promoting living together and education for peace, the Secretary General of the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism, Dr. Chi Asafor Cornelius, on behalf of the President of the institution, Peter Mafany Musonge, had a working session with the Director of the Mahamat Ghandi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP-UNESCO) of New Delhi, India, Obijiofor Aginam. The audience that took place on October 7, 2024 had as objective, exploring collaborative avenue in promoting education for peace and social cohesion. The aforementioned institution is a specialised agency of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).  
Welcoming the delegation on behalf of the President, the Secretary General expressed the gratitude of the institution to the United Nations which through the Peace Building Fund has contributed to capacity building workshops and also field activities in areas affected by the crisis in the North West and South West Regions by mainly reaching out to the internally displaced population.  “Your delegation's visit to Cameroon coincides with a period which the Commission just ended a three-day colloquium on inter-community conflicts and the promotion of living together, a major activity of our 2024 plan of action, approved by the Head of State, Paul Biya and which has permitted us to gather suggestions to better prevent and manage these conflicts in future.
