Cameroon- United Nations : Resident Coordinator Takes Office

Issa Sanogo handed his Lettres of Introduction to Minister Felix Mbayu during an audience on October 11, 2024 at the Ministry of External Relations.

The newly designated United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Cameroon, Dr. Issa Sanogo, has officially taken office following the presentation of his Lettres of Introduction to the Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in charge of Cooperation with the Commonwealth, Felix Mbayu, on October 11, 2024. 
The former UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Madagascar brings a wealth of experience from his tenure in senior roles at specialised agencies of the international organisation notably the World Food Programme. He spearheaded the establishment of the Regional Centre of Excellence against Hunger and Malnutrition (CERFAM) in Côte d’Ivoire, serving as its inaugural Director.   
After the presentation of his accreditation documents to Minister Felix Mbayu, the senior UN official, noted that he is happy observing that relations between Cameroon and the Organisation are on a good footing. Dr. Issa Sanogo says his ambition in Cameroon is to consolidate these achievements and reinforce cooperation with government by working on issues of collaboration that are very important such as sustainable development. He added that they will support government’s efforts to ensure stability in the humanitarian domain and general stability in the country. “I want to conclude by thanking the government for their hospitality because in the humanitarian domain, Cameroon is a welcoming country for displaced persons and refugees. We want to work hand-in-hand to support these vulnerable people, he said.
