Douala International Marathon : Beneth Kipkir Koskei Emerges Winner

The Kenyan completed the 42km race on Sunday October 27, 2024 in 2 hours 30mn 30 sec., ahead of his Cameroonian counterpart Ali Mohamadou, who came second.
Kenyan-born Beneth Kipkir Koskei was the winner of the 7th edition of the Douala International Marathon held in the economic capital on October 27, 2024. Beneth Kipkir Koskei finished the race in 2 hours, 30 minutes and 30 seconds, ahead of the second-place finisher Ali Mohamadou from Cameroon, who finished the race in 2 hours, 30 minutes and 34 seconds.
The kicker of the race was given by the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Prof. Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, from the Bonassama esplanade at 6:60 am. On the race course were five different categories of races, the 42 km main race which was the marathon, the 21 km semi-marathon, the 10 km walk, the 3 km family walk and the 3 km handicap race. The five different categories had different routes within the city of Douala.
According to the Managing Director of Tara Sports, the main organizer of the Douala International Marathon, Elaine Nana, this 7th edition of the competition witnessed a health campaign that sensitized the population on various diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases, autism, sickle cell to name a few.
