New Deal At 42 : President Biya's Institutional Achievements Celebrated

A cultural gala was organised yesterday at the Yaounde Conference Centre by the Central Committee of the CPDM.
Forty-two years of democratic and institutional achievements at the helm of the nation. That is practically what members of the Central Committee of the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (CPDM) are hailing the President of the Republic, Paul Biya, for having realised in his 42 years of reign. Members of the party came out to celebrate the anniversary of the accession to supreme magistracy of their National Chairman. A cultural gala was to this effect organised at the Yaounde Conference Centre yesterday November 6, 2024, by the Central Committee of the CPDM in honour of his anniversary as President of the Republic. In attendance was the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute, the Secretary General of the Central Committee of the CPDM, Jean Nkuete, members of government, the diplomatic corps as well as administrative, traditional, religious authorities and politicians.
A special documentary produced under the general supervision of the Secretary General of the Central Committee of the CPDM was broadcast at the gala. It opened with the maiden swearing-in of President Paul Biya at the National Assembly in 1982 in which he proclaimed the words "I do so swear," to uphold the Constitutional stipulations. Current and former members of government recounted their experiences working with the Head of State, highlighting key achievements in their various sectors. The documentary revisits the advent of the CPDM on 24 March 1985 in Bamenda during a party congress. Excepts of statements by the Head of State on different occasions in which he highlights national values like democracy, multiparty politics and the promotion of rigour and moralisation are captured in the documentary.
