African Military Games Abuja 2024 : FAP Women’s Team Wins Basketball Gold

The women’s Armed Forces and Police basketball team (FAP) won gold in basketball event in the African Military Games in Abuja, Nigeria. The FAP basketball women dominated Nigeria 86-47 during the final match that took place at the Moshood Abiola Stadium. In the men’s competition, Cameroon faced a tough challenge ultimately losing to Nigeria. In football Cameroon lost the gold medal to Algeria after they were beaten 1-0 in the final.  Organised by the African Union and the Nigeria Armed Forces, the competition brings together military personnel from across the continent. 
The athletes are competing in 19 sports disciplines including football, athletics, volleyball and swimming. The games that are taking place under the theme: “Enhancing Military Cooperation Through Sports,” aims at strengthening military solidarity across Africa, promote African cultural diversity, and foster unity among nations.
