Presidential Reconstruction Plan : UNDP Promotes Social Inclusion In Bamenda

This was during the ceremony of the Sunrise Arts and Cultural Festival which ended on November 24, 2024.
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the implementing partner of the Presidential Plan for Reconstruction and Development of the North West Region, has this time around added smiles on the faces North West Artists as a means of promoting talents, social cohesion and building solidarity amongst a population which has been facing challenges since 2016.
Speaking during the closing ceremony of the Sunrise Arts and Cultural Festival (SACFEST) 2024 which took place at the Bamenda Franco Alliance Hall on November 24, 2024, Dr Ngwa Leslie, the Social Cohesion expert at the UNDP, said that population of the North West continues to suffer from mental health issues mostly related to the crisis rocking the region. We think that we are over struggling in the North West, because we are struggling life has to continue, " said the social cohesion expert, adding that, " We need to build resilience, we have talents in the North West and we need to promote.” According to him, the population cannot sit and fold their arms because they are in a difficult situation.
Through the Recovery Programme of the Presidential Plan, the UNDP accompanied the organiser of the Sunrise Arts and Cultural festival for a week to shape and form the event which ended with a lot of take home in the form of equipment and awards to outstanding artists across the region.
