Humanitarian Cooperation: China Donates To Cameroon Red Cross

The items, comprising conference chairs, desktop computers and printer, were handed over in Yaounde on December 27, 2024.


The Chinese Embassy in Cameroon on Friday, December 27, 2024 made an umpteenth donation to the Cameroon Red Cross. The event, which held in the Red Cross headquarters in Yaounde, saw the handover of 150 conference chairs, desktop computers and a printer by Mrs Chen Ya’ou, the Minister-Counsellor in the Chinese Embassy in Cameroon. The donation was received on behalf of the Cameroon Red Cross by its Secretary General, Jean Urbain Zoa. 

 

Irreplaceable Role
“The Red Cross plays an irreplaceable role in reducing humanitarian suffering. The Cameroon Red Cross has been playing this great role quite well,” commented the Minister-Counsellor. She described the Cameroon Red Cross as a “good humanitarian cooperation partner,” saying the donation was a concrete indication of China’s commitment to international cooperation.
 

FOCAC Promise
Mrs. Chen recalled that during the September 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, FOCAC leaders’ summit in Beijing, China, the host nation pledged to continue to assist Cameroon’s development initiatives in areas like infrastructure construction, health and education. She commended the “unwavering commitment” of the Cameroon Red Cross in improving the lot of Cameroonians undergoing humanitarian challenges.

 

Long-time, Dependable Partner 
Earlier, Jean Urbain Zoa felicitated the Chinese Embassy for the donation. He said the Chinese Embassy has for years been supporting the Cameroon Red Cross’ humanitarian activities like refurbishing and constructing new facilities in the Cameroon Red Cross headquarters.
