Professional Championship : Four Coaches Already Fired

Just seven playing days into the MTN Elite One, Ernest Agbo of Bamboutos of Mbouda is the latest casualty after Panthére, Coton Sport and Stade Renard parted ways with their trainers.


Barely seven playing days into the MTN Elite One Championship, the top flight league has already seen a total of four coaches fired. The latest casualty is Ernest Agbor, who was sacked by Bamboutos FC of Mbouda following their defeat to in-form Colombe Sportive of Dja and Lobo on match day of the MTN Elite One Championship on Sunday January 12, 2025.  Agbor’s dismissal comes after a dismal start to the season for the Mangwa Boys. With only one victory in seven matches, Bamboutos are languishing in the relegation zone with a seven points. The pressure mounted after a string of poor results, culminating in the defeat to Colombe. Agbor joins a growing list of coaches who have lost their jobs early in the season.
Just weeks ago, Stade Renard parted ways with coach Mesumbe Ivo. Coach Justin Kamgue was appointed to replace him.  Again, Coton Sport Garoua dismissed Bonaventure Djonkep for failing to deliver positive results. Deputy Coach, Minkreo Birwe is serving as interim. The club is yet to see a major change as they could only get another draw against Canon on match day 7 of the league.
