Cameroon-Holy See : Celebrating Fruitful Ties

Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute yesterday April 8, 2025 received in audience the Apostolic Nuncio to Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea, His Grace José Avelino Bettencourt.

Relations between Cameroon and the Holy See have been appreciated by the Apostolic Nuncio to Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea, His Grace José Avelino Bettencourt who was yesterday April 8, 2025 received by the Prime Minister Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute. The two personalities took stock of the activities of the Roman Catholic church in Cameroon in various domains. 
Speaking to reporters after the audience, the Vatican’s representative in Cameroon said he came to see the Prime Minister in the spirit of celebration. “This year 2025 is very important because we celebrate 30 years of the visit of Saint John Paul II to Cameroon and the signing of the Ecclesia in Africa. It is the first time a document is signed outside Rome and it was signed right here in Yaounde. So we feel that it is an important celebration because it brought to Yaounde all the Presidents of the Conferences of Bishops from across Africa and it has an important ramification throughout the church.
