Movement for the Defence of the Republic (MDR) : Still In Alliance With Paul Biya

Over the years, the Movement for the Defence of the Republic (MDR) though eligible to participate in the Presidential election according to legal dispositions, has never participated in any Presidential election in the country. It is said the political party founded by Dakolé Daïssala, of blessed memory, is in an alliance with President Paul Biya who has since 1992 been the candidate of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM). To that effect, each time President Paul Biya stands for the Presidential election, they automatically support his candidacy. This will be the same scenario this year as the party will not be putting forth any candidate for the Presidential election.
