With a budget projection of FCFA 26 billion 209 million, the Ministry hopes to improve the availability and quality of internet and postal services.

The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Minette Libom Li Lekeng was before the Finance and Budget Committee of the National Assembly last Friday to present and defend the draft budget of her Ministry. It stands at FCFA 26 billion 209 million and one of the priorities as explained by the Minister will be to continue investing in postal infrastructure by expanding, maintaining and optimising physical and electronic networks in order to guarantee postal coverage on one hand, and on the other hand, regulate the postal market. She adds that particular emphasis will be placed on digitalising postal services.
The Minister further stated that part of the solicited resources will be used for upgrading equipment and extending the telephone and internet access network in the central services of the Ministry and nationwide. "The priority will be the continuation to improve the availability and the quality of postal services and even the network infrastructure. This year, we are going to improve rural connectivity to make sure that internet is available in these areas. We want digital inclusion, so we have a project to connect rural areas," Minister Libom added.
