Local Council Functioning : Bambalang Committed To Effective Participation

A team from the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator for the North West Region on December 7 had awareness creation discussions with Bambalang community in Bamenda.
The people of Bambalang Village in Ndop Central Subdivision in Ngoketunjia Division of the North West Region will henceforth take an effective part in the functioning of the Ndop Municipal Council so as to have optimal benefits from the development and services the council offers.
This will be thanks to the good governance message officials from the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator (PIC) for the North West Region took to the Bambalang community in Bamenda at the residence of the Fon of Bambalang, His Majesty Yakum Kevin Teuvih who is the outgoing President of the North West House of Chiefs. The people were lectured on the creation, missions and functioning of the Office of the PIC, Complaint management mechanisms at the Office and how they can promote good governance at the level of their municipal council. The Office of the PIC team was led by Research Officer No 2 at the Office, Barrister Yang Francis.
Speaking during the occasion, the Fon of Bambalang said, “I am glad that they have been able to educate my people on the role of the PIC and how we could get effective citizens participation in development. “The people through an interactive session learned much, especially the fact that traditional rulers, village development associations, village and neighborhood associations as well as individuals could take to the council projects they deem are important for their communities.
