60th Youth Day: First Preparatory Meeting Sets Tone

Youths from neighboring countries are set to join the March past in Douala on February 11.
Preparations for the 60th edition of National Youth Day celebration are underway in the Littoral regional capital. The inaugural preparatory meeting took place on January 21 at the Littoral governor’s office, led by Aboubakary Haman Tchiouto, the Secretary General of the Littoral governor’s office. He urged all stakeholders to collaborate effectively to ensure the success of the event, emphasizing that this year’s celebration marks the first under President Paul’s new mandate. Mr Tchiouto encouraged young people to rally together and ensure that the initiatives for youth in this new mandate genuinely benefit them. He also called on youth to reject hate speech and avoid drug consumption, highlighting that the 60th edition of Youth Day is an opportunity to celebrate the bravery and resilience of the youth in Cameroon. The meeting included a presentation of the report from the 59th edition of Youth Day, and it concluded with the establishment of 13 commissions to oversee the preparations for a successful event on February 11. It was announced that during the celebration, which will be presided over by the Governor, youths from the Central African Republic, Chad, and Congo Brazzaville will participate in the March past.
