South West Regional Assembly: FCFA 8 Billion Headquarters Project Begins

The ambitious FCFA eight billion project, financed by the Special Council Support Fund for Mutual Assistance (FEICOM), will be executed on a two-hectare land. During the official installation of the contractor on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, in Buea, the President of the South West Regional Assembly, Bakoma Elango Zacheus, underscored the importance of strictly respecting the ten-month deadline set for the completion of the project’s first phase. Following the completion of traditional rites and ancestral blessings, performed by traditional rulers from the South West Chiefs Secretariat that marked the formal commencement of the project, Bakoma Elango Zacheus announced that construction activities would commence immediately. He disclosed that the complex would feature several modern structures, including a presidential block, a four-storey building, a security post, a banquet hall, and a commercial building. According to him, the commercial facility will be rented out to the public to generate revenue for the maintenance and sustainability of the complex. Out of the total project cost of FCFA eight billion, the FCFA two billion required for the initial phase has already been fully mobilized. Further details revealed that the project falls within FEICOM’s FCFA one billion support scheme, a financing initiative approved by the institution’s Board of Directors to assist Regional Assemblies in executing investment projects.
