Cameroon-India : Expanding Cooperation Ties

Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute yesterday March 26, 2026 received the visiting Indian Minister of Trade, Piyush Goyal.
In Cameroon within the framework of the 14th Ministerial Conference of the WTO, the visiting Indian Minister of Trade, Piyush Goyal, was yesterday March 26, 2026 received by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute. Accompanied by the Indian High Commissioner to Cameroon, Vijay Khanduja, the two personalities discussed expanding bilateral trade and other areas of cooperation. “We have had very engaging discussions on expanding bilateral trade and our relationship with Cameroon and the larger African Union. We have discussed ways to expand cooperation in industry, agriculture, and digital technologies. I have extended an invitation to Cameroon at the highest level to participate in the India- Africa Conference to be held in the last week of May in New Delhi, where we will continue the conversation to expand ties between Cameroon and India,” the Indian Minister of Trade said. He also expressed appreciation to the government of Cameroon for the hospitality and warm welcome reserved for delegates participating in the 14th Ministerial Conference of WTO. Being his first visit to Cameroon, Piyush Goyal, said he was happy and so far impressed with the friendliness of Cameroonians.
Cameroon and India have six principal areas of cooperation. In the domain of agriculture, India in 2009 provided FCFA 23,35 billion for the financing of two projects for the cultivation of rice and maize in Ndop, North West Region of Ca- meroon. India also made available F...
