IMF/ World Bank Spring Meetings 2026: Cameroon Reaffirmed As Strategic Partner

A high level session with the country’s delegation held in Washington D.C. Wednesday April 15.
The Vice President of the World Bank Group for West and Central Africa, Ousmane Diagana, has lauded Cameroon’s progress in implementing major development projects, while encouraging deeper structural reforms to strengthen long term economic growth and attract greater investment. He made the remarks in Washington, D.C., during a high level session with Cameroon’s delegation at the ongoing 2026 IMF-World Bank Spring Meetings, last wednesday. The meeting provided an opportunity for both parties to review progress across key sectors and outline priorities for the months ahead. Cameroon’s advancements under the National Energy Compact, as well as initiatives such as AgriConnect and the expanding mining sector, were highlighted and commended. Particular attention was given to the Douala–Bangui corridor project, which is now in an advanced phase of preparation. The project is expected to ease trade flows, improve transport infrastructure, and stimulate economic activity for Cameroon and its landlocked neighbours, reinforcing the country’s role as a strategic transit hub in Central Africa.
