Special Operations Unit: Missions, Working Mechanisms Presented

In scenes similar to real life scenarios, officers of the Special Operations Unit, known in French as GSO, a corps of the Police, publicly presented their invention mechanisms with regards to protecting persons and property. In the presence of the Commander of the Special Operations Unit, Police Commissioner Pigui Ngosso Gatien Eloi, the officers practically demonstrated how hostages are rescued and improvised explosive devices deactivated and later destroyed. As demonstrated for the case of hostage saving, action begins from the office with the equipment assembling and then getting into the security truck which is usually an armored rescue vehicle and then heading to the destination. Once on the spot, the area is surveyed to determine if there is any explosive device which hinders passage. The team is then separated with some on deactivating the explosive and others on ensuring the safe release of the hostages. An officer wearing a 40kg material weight that protects him in case the device explodes then moves towards the red zone with an explosive regulator that has the capacity of regulating an explosive of five kilometres away. For those buried under the ground, they are dug, power neutralised and taken to a safe distance which is later destroyed. Photos are taken for documentation and security evaluation purpose. All these takes place after the safety of the hostages has been guaranteed and the captors held. On the training of the officers, the Commander said the process is rigorous. He explained that those trained are graduates from Police Schools and the physical activity can take two months.
