Sports, Physical Education: Sports, Physical Education Reflections To Boost Performance

Officials of the central, decentralized, attached, and supervised services of the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education are sharing a strategic moment for introspection, evaluation, and forward planning to boost performance. This is taking place at the 2026 Annual conference which ends today, May 12, 2026, at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex. The two-day event was opened by the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, yesterday May 11, 2026. The event is unfolding under the theme: “Physical and Sports Activities: A Lever for Social Cohesion, Pillar for the Implementation of the Seven-Year Term of Greatness and Hope”. The Secretary General of the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education, who doubles as the Administrative Coordinator of the Conference, Joseph Yerima, gave a highlight of the conference, underlining the importance of making optimal use of limited public resources to drive sector growth. Minister Mouelle Kombi, who doubles as the General Supervisor of the Conference said the event constitutes a true framework for consultation, evaluation, and planning of the physical and sports education policy; which is crucial given the place of physical education and sports activities in the political vision of the President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul Biya. It is in this light that he highlighted the efforts of the Head of State in constructing up-to-date sports infrastructure, which have enabled Cameroon to establish itself as a sports nation and preferred venue for successfully hosting of numerous international competitions.
