Football Infrastructure: President Biya’s Leadership Appreciated

The remark was made by the President of the Confederation of African Football, Patrice Motsepe after an audience with the Prime Minister, Joseph Dion Ngute on May 13, 2026.
On behalf of the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute granted an audience to the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe, who was in Cameroon for the inauguration of the headquarters building of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), on May 13, 2026. Speaking to the media after the audience with the Head of Government, the CAF President said he appreciated President Paul Biya’s managerial savior-faire in football. “We asked the Prime Minister to thank our Head of State, President Paul Biya, for his leadership and support to football. And also to thank the First Lady, because I remember during the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), she was always very supportive when we were hosting the competition here in Cameroon,” he stated. Patrice Motsepe also expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for contributing to football growth in Cameroon. “I had the privilege of closely working with him (referring to the Prime Minister) when we hosted the AFCON in Cameroon and he provided outstanding leadership and it is always a privilege to be here, to talk about the enormous support that our Prime Minister and the Minister of Sports is giving to FECAFOOT,” he said.
