Showcasing Protected Areas: Photography Contest Launched In Buea

Aphotography contest for natural sites and protected areais underway in Cameroon.Launched in Buea on June 1, 2026,at ActivSpace, it is called Wiki LovesEarth Cameroon 2026. It was launched by Wikimedians of CameroonUser Group. The contest which isin its eighth edition is opened toprofessional photographers, amateurs, Wikimedia volunteers amongothers. It is an opportunity to raiseawareness on natural biodiversityhotspots. It will also highlight thechallenges associated with the preservation of natural sites. All regions of Cameroon are eligiblefor the contest. Examples of suchsites are the Mount Cameroon National Park, Limbe Botanic Garden,Bimbia Slave Trade Village, Muanenguba twin Lakes, the Kom-WumForest Reserve, Lake Awing, andCampo Reserve among others. Aparticipant can submit as manyphotos as possible on the site, Wikipedia. The photos must be released under a free license. South West Coordinator of Wikimedians Cameroon User Group, AdesoDivine, said voting is scheduled forJuly 2026.
