Wimbum Fons Have Spoken! Sanctions Coming Soon For Those Auctioning Own Culture

The Chairman of the Wimbum Fons’ Union, WIFU, His Majesty Fon Fon Shey Barnabas Mbunwe, accuses some Mbum people of commercializing royalty, sacred artifacts, and secret group performances. For personal gain.

In a strongly worded press release issued from its headquarters in Mbiyeh, Tallah Village in Donga-Mantung Division of the North West Region, the Wimbum Fons Union, WIFU, has launched a severe crackdown. On what it terms the "abusive marketing and adulteration" of Wimbum artifacts, royalty, and sacred cultural heritage by rogue elements within their own community.

For Personal Gain
The communique, dated June 9, 2026, and jointly signed by the WIFU Secretary General, HRH King Kwefi II of Binka, and the Chairman of WIFU, HRM Fon Shey Barnabas Mbunwe (the Paramount Fon of the Warr Clan), takes direct aim at Wimbum sons and daughters living in various towns across Cameroon. Who are accused of exploiting their heritage for personal gain.

In Exchange For 'Chicken Change'
According to the royal council, certain elite have been misled by "chicken change" to sell out the people’s ancient customs to filmmakers and cultural impostors. The WIFU Chairman says these individuals are abusively commercializing Wimbum royalty, sacred artifacts, and secret group performances solely to achieve "cheap popularity" where they do not belong.
Fon Barnabas Mbunwe emphasized that the Wimbum people possess a highly organized, well-documented history. And that traditional rulers remain the exclusive custodians of this culture. He warned that any fictional additions, unapproved historical revisions, or imposed traditions are "criminal, null, and void."

New Royal Decrees, Harsh Penalties
To restore order and protect the integrity of Mbum culture, Fon Mbunwe outlined three binding declarations:
Validation Of Foreign Honors: Any traditional honor or title acquired by a Wimbum elite from an external culture must receive prior validation from their respective home Fon before it can be recognized on Wimbum land or displayed at any community gathering.
Criminalizing Association: Any Wimbum citizen who associates with, or pays allegiance to an individual possessing an invalidated title will be treated legally and culturally as a "co-offender" to the impostor and will face matching traditional sanctions.
Imminent Retribution For Movie Collaborators: Fon Mbunwe revealed that specific individuals have already been identified for participating in the derogatory marketing of a sacred group performance to an unauthorized filmmaker. He explicitly stated these individuals will be heavily sanctioned "in the days ahead."

Direct Warning To Diaspora
The traditional rulers stated that this public clarification serves as a final, protective barrier to safeguard the dignity of the Wimbum civilization against modern commercial exploitation.
Copies of the royal order have been dispatched to the National President of the Wimbum Cultural and Development Association, WICUDA for immediate nationwide dissemination across all chapters. As well as to local radio stations in Mbumland for urgent broadcasting in local languages to ensure grassroots compliance.
