Bilongue: Nursery School Needs Teachers, Security

The plea was made during the graduation of the 2026 batch on June 10, 2026.

The Government English Nursery School Bilongue, in the Douala III Subdivision, is currently in dire need of additional teachers and improved security. Hardly a month passes without reports of burglary at the school. Thieves have repeatedly broken in and stolen valuables. Created in 2023 with only one child, the school now has 65 pupils in Nursery One and Nursery Two. Speaking during the graduation ceremony held on June 10, the head teacher of the Government English Nursery School (GENS) Bilongue, Mrs. Mejane Evelyn, said the school has carried out continuous sensitisation to attract and enrol very young children. She noted that since the school’s establishment, she has remained the only government teacher, adding that even the Parents Teachers’ Association (PTA) teacher left.
