South West: Over 33,000 Candidates Sit FSLC Examination

Thousands of class six pupils in the Region are taking part in the First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) and Certificat d'Études Primaires (CEP) examinations, marking the end of the 2025/2026 academic year.
More than 33,000 pupils in the South West Region have begun the written phase of the First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) and the Certificat d'Études Primaires (CEP) examinations for the 2025/2026 academic year. The examinations officially commenced on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, in various centres across the region and are ending today. A visit to selected examination centres in Buea and Limbe revealed that the exercise is proceeding smoothly and under satisfactory conditions. According to statistics from the Regional Delegation of Basic Education, a total of 33,092 candidates are sitting this year's FSLC examination, compared to 32,634 candidates in 2025. For the CEP, 529 candidates have registered, down from 564 candidates recorded last year. In Buea Subdivision alone, 6,584 candidates registered for the FSLC examination, comprising 3,151 boys and 3,433 girls. For the CEP, 83 candidates are participating, including 39 girls and 44 boys. To ensure the smooth conduct of the examinations, the South West Regional Delegate of Basic Education, Rose Elangwe Bume, toured several examination centres in Fako Division on June 16.
