Gender-based Violence: Female Diplomats Assist Victims

Under the patronage of the President of the Republic, the Ministry of External Relations has several activities outlined within the framework of the fifth edition of the International Day of Women in Diplomacy. Amongst the programmed activities is a conference which holds today at the International Relations Institute of Cameroon on the role of women in enhancing the country’s diplomatic practices. Prior to that, women of the Ministry of External Relations, under the banner of the Association of Dynamic Women of Cameroonian Diplomacy (DYFECAM) have offered diverse gifts to victims of gender-based violence at the AFIRI Centre. The event was chaired on behalf of the Minister of External Relations, by the Secretary General of the Ministry, Chinmoun Oumarou. In attendance was equally the Minister of Secondary Education, Prof. Nalova Lyonga. It was also a moment to pay homage to the resilience of female diplomats, salute their leadership skills and appreciate their efforts to peace, security and development. In her statement, the President of the Association of Dynamic Women of Cameroonian Diplomacy, Sylvie Elung, who is also the Inspector General at the Ministry of External Relations in charge of Services, said the gifts which have the approval of the President of the Republic and First Lady are intended to protect and facilitate the social reinsertion of these vulnerable women in the society.
