Cameroon-AFD: New Director Pledges Continuous Collaboration

T he outgoing Director of the French Development Agency (AFD) in Cameroon, Virginie Dago, was at the Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development (MINE­ PAT) yesterday July 14, 2026, to present her successor, Jerome No­ tebaert to Minister Alamine Ous­ mane Mey. The in camera audience, Dago said, was a forum for discus­ sions to get Jerome Notebaert abreast with his new position of working in cooperation with both countries (France and Cameroon), especially as she draws close to the end of her quadrennial mandate in Cameroon. The new Director, Jerome Note­ baert, will take office at a time when the Debt Reduction and De­ velopment Contract (C2D) is ente­ ring its final stretch. Since its launch in 2006, this mechanism has made it possible to reinject over FCFA 967 billion into the Ca­ meroonian economy through the fi­ nancing of projects in health, edu­ cation, agriculture, urban development, and vocational trai­ ning.
