Content Creation: Rising Demand At Ceremonies

The desire by most young couples to have enticing short clips of their events has spurred the new line of business.

Requests by wedding and engage­ ment celebrants to capture and post on social media intriguing videos of their events have fueled the need for mobile phone content creators at ceremonies. In recent times, bud­ geting seems incomplete without allocations for a savvy content crea­ tor who masters the growing social media trends, and can maximize their smart phones and good lighting to film, edit, and post contents. Ac­ cording to a Yaounde-based content creator, Mireille Yankeu, her love for recording and posting beautiful social media content on TikTok and Insta­ gram has over the last six years morphed into a lucrative venture. “Given the varied packages, a typical wedding offer of five videos is done for a negotiable sum of FCFA 125,000,” she said. She added that there has been a recent surge in demand which generates an average sum of FCFA 250,000 monthly. While this trend seems a social media thing to some couples, others find it as veritable means to create and safeguard generational memories. Clients like Rita Ebob recently opti­ mized the services of content crea­ tors and videographers at her wed­ ding. She explained that “it was fun creating those videos because they helped me relax through the wed­ ding pressure and served as good memories for my union and children to come”.
