Bamenda: City Mayor Wins Housing, Development Award

T he Prime International Media Award in its sixth edition fo­ cused on champions in deve­ lopment has awarded the Mayor of the Bamenda City Council Paul Acho­ bong as the best City Mayor in the North West Region in housing and development. He received the award on September 13, 2026. The Spokesperson of the award for the North West Region, Mokom Tho­ mas while handing the award certi­ ficate enumerated the merits of Mayor Paul Achobong. He said it was in recognition of the Mayor’s resilience to stay back in Bamenda to make the city great in the face of the ongoing security crisis. Ano­ ther point that favoured the city Mayor for the award is his efforts for the Bamenda Urban Crossing road under construction to have its weight increased from the initial 18 metres to 32 metres. He is also awarded for the excellent organi­ zation of the 3rd edition of the North West Regional Youth Sports Jamboree that brought together youths from the seven divisions of the region.
