Food: Veritable Processing Chain

T he Technology, Innovation and Incubation Centre of the Uni­ versity of Bamenda is a verita­ ble example of a nursery for entre­ preneurs with food process as a key activity. The Centre placed under the Depart­ ment of Nutrition, Food and Bio-re­ sources Technology of the College of Technology for the past seven years has been receiving 55 students each year and in the just-started 2026/2027 academic year, there are plans that the number of students will increase to 100, explained the Head of Department, Professor Ngwasiri Pride. He disclosed during a recent visit to the centre that it has incubated and supplied financial bu­ siness support to 14 student-led en­ terprises. The centre, he further said, develops business ideas from scratch to full bloom businesses and supplies products to customers on order. The incubation centre is furnished with equipment and laboratories that en­ able it to have best and standard pro­ ducts. By October 6, 2026, on the eve of the official launch of the school year in the University of Bamenda, the incubation centre was set to re­ ceive students. As such, considering that the holiday was just finishing, there was no activity therein. The incubation centre has several specialized sectors. The Dairy Pro­ ducts Sector, for instance, transforms the raw products to finished and marketable products such as yogurt, cheese and milk drinks. The Meat ...
