Agriculture: Journalists Trained To Unveil Opportunities For Youths

The pressmen were implored to publicise funding sources availabe in the agricultural sector

Some 30 general assignment reporters drawn from the public and independent media have been schooled on better reporting agricultural issues. The journalists were recently trained during a two-day workshop organised by Association Revolution Verte at the Chamber of Agriculture in Yaounde. The workshop which ended on Friday April 28, 2017, took place under the theme : “Youth entrepreneurship : Opportunities offered by the agro-pastoral and fisheries sector.”
According to the President of Association Revolution Verte, Claude René Kana Kana, the move is to accompany the government in its agricultural revolution through communication. Kana Kana said government has been doing a lot to boost the agricultural sector in the country but many people do not take opportunity of such largess because they do not have the appropriate information. He noted that journalists have to properly communicate in order to let the masses, especially youths who are interested in engaging and investing in agriculture, to know how to have access to land, funding, training, infrastructures and markets.
