2018 State Budget: Preparation Sets Off

The Minister of Finance, Alamine Ousmane Mey, yesterday opened a two-day seminar in Yaounde for stakeholders to draw lessons from previous budgets

 

Groundwork for the drawing up of the 2018 State budget of Cameroon has kicked off in Yaounde. The Minister of Finance, Alamine Ousmane Mey, yesterday Tuesday May 30, 2017, officially opened a seminar to launch activities for the preparation of the 2018 State budget. During the ceremony, Minister Alamine Ousmane Mey urged stakeholders from various administrative structures to put in place concerted efforts so that government comes up with a budget that fits the national context and responds to international standards. According to the Minister, the seminar which ends today aims to draw lessons from loopholes in budget execution by various structures as well as assess and fine-tune strategies for better implementation. “The drawing up of the budget is of outmost importance as its legal, economic and financial aspects determine the life and future of the country,” Alamine Ousmane Mey said, noting that respect for deadlines in budget execution will be of paramount importance.
Going by the Minister of Finance, the 2018 State budget will pay particular attention to the upcoming multiple elections in the country.
