Cooperation: British, Canadian Firms To Invest In Energy

High Commissioners of both countries made the disclosure during separate audiences with the Minister of Water Resources and Energy, October 11, 2017

 

British and Canadian firms have manifested interest in investing in the energy, water and hydrocarbons sectors of the country. Head of diplomatic missions of United Kingdom and Canada to Cameroon made the pronouncement after separate audiences with the Minister of Water Resources and Energy, Basile Atangana Kouna.
After the Wednesday October 11, 2017 audience, the British High Commissioner to Cameroon, Brian Olley said they reviewed the progress made with many projects in the last four years as well as charted ways for some exciting projects. Brian Olley disclosed that a British firm, New Age, will be coming into the country to engage in offshore drilling of gas. “It is a huge investment of 2.6 billion dollar (approximately FCFA 1.4 trillion),” the British diplomat said, indicating that the investment will create some 400 jobs in Cameroon. “It’s a very good account and excellent relations I have had with the Minister,” Brain told Cameroon Tribune.
Recalling the success of Victoria Oil & Gas (now known as Gas du Cameroun) which is being used by companies in Douala, the British High Commissioner said Cameroonian gas is going to power local businesses.
