The wife of the Senate President, Marcie Niat, personally represented the First Lady during a splendid ceremony over the weekend in Bassamba.
Grandiose best describes celebrations that marked the presence of the humanitarian caravan of Cameroon’s First Lady at Bassamba subdivision in the Nde Division of the West Region. It was a weekend that inhabitants in the division will never forget. Precisely on November 11, 2017, all roads in the West Region led to the Nde Division. From the Mifi Division to Bamboutos, Menoua, Upper-Nkam and Noun, majority of the sons and daughters in the West Region, especially those from the Banganté, Bazou, and Tonga subdivisions answered present at the Bassamba ceremonial ground to welcome their august guest; a delegation of an association founded by Cameroon’s First Lady; Circle of Friends of Cameroon (CERAC). The delegation did not just come visiting, but had with them lots of gifts for some 35 public and private health units in the division, 33 associations of rural women, 18 networks from different chiefdoms, two youths’ empowerment centres and two orphanages from their founding president. Reason why the joy of the population was spontaneous and immersed. The personal representative of the First Lady at the ceremony was Marcie Niat, who is also one of the Vice Presidents of CERAC.
In fact, the delegation of CERAC was at Bassamba to officially inaugurate the maternity ward of the medical centre of the sub-division, renovated and equipped by CERAC, as well as to hand over gifts to orphanages, rural women, young girls and other health facilities of the Nde Division. Marcie Niat said CERAC’s presence at Bassamba is also to preach the gospel of solidarity, respect for human beings and good citizenship. A modern maternity with efficient equipment reveals that nothing is as beautiful as celebrating the birth of a child and protecting life. She added agricultural gifts to rural women and young girls have created a means for them to improve their productivity and revenue, which will thereby improve their living conditions and that of their families. According to Marcie Niat, the First Lady has once more given a visible and palpable prove to her commitment to human dignity and passion for solidarity.
