North West Regional Assembly : First Statutory Session Produces Pioneer Team Leaders

Regional Councillors, House of Chiefs tasked to deliver on Special Status for a new North West.
It was a moment to celebrate the birth of a new era in the North West region with a pioneer Regional Assembly to show. Traditional songs and dance were on duty with messages of hope inspired by Regional Councillors and a House of Chiefs expected to deliver for the identity, culture, development and prosperity of the region. It was the eldest member, 95-year-old Fon Angwafor III of Mankon and the youngest, Wendy Luma Lima who provisionally conducted the agenda which featured the verification of the quorum, presentation of letter convening the session, election of the Regional Council Executive, reminders of the legal provisions, separation of the two Houses, formation of committees, convergence of Houses and acceptance speech of the Regional President.
The Representative of the State, North West Governor, Adolphe Lele Lafrique congratulated members of the Regional Assembly and challenged them to take ownership of the new institution that prioritises local development and the Special Status which recognises the specificities of the Anglophone subsystem of Education, Common Law and traditional institutions.
