Governor Bernard Okalia Bilai handed down firm instructions to Gilbert Guibai Baldena to report within 30 days if any of the people’s representatives was still residing outside their localities.
A new Senior Divisional Officer (SDO) for Ndian Division in the South West Region has taken over duties. Appointed last 15 October, 2021, by Presidential decree, Gilbert Guibai Baldena, Super Scale Civil Administrator, was installed to his new post on 3 November, 2021, in Mundemba, headquarters of Ndian Division. He replaces Mwafua Lawrence Forwang who had served in Ndian since 13 April, 2018.
The South West Regional Governor, Bernard Okalia Bilai, sailed through the creeks of Bakassi to conduct the commissioning of the new Ndian Divisional Boss. Guibai Baldena is 54 and hails from Mokolo in the Far North Region, and father of many offspring. The Regional boss praised the outgoing SDO Mwafua Forwang for his efforts in the fight against threats on security of the area. The Governor acknowledged Forwang’s fight against absenteeism in public offices and clandestine migration and contraband in the border area of Ndian. Nwafua’s determination to ensure resumption of schools, sitting of certificate exams by children of Ndian in against threats of school boycott by armed groups was equally praised.
The event of installing the new Ndian top administrator raised major concerns of insecurity with the attendant consequences of exodus of civil servants, migration of elected representatives of the population and the kidnap of six civil servants (Divisional Delegates) of Ndian last 15 June, 2021, among whom 42-year-old Mabia Johnson Mudika is now known to have been assassinated.
