For Greater Integration: CEMAC Parliament Approves Draft Directives

The directives concern the free moment of persons and establishment of health, educational, architecture institutions by citizens of one CEMAC member country in other countries.
I n the last day of the second session of the Parliament of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC Parliament) on November 9, 2021, the Members of Parliament examined and approved directives tabled before the institution by the CEMAC Commission. Members of CEMAC Parliament held their second ordinary session for 2021 year from October 11, 2021 to November 9, 2021 through videoconferencing presided at by its President, Hon. Hilarion Etong who is also the Senior Deputy Speaker of Cameroon’s National Assembly.
With regard to the draft directives which mark a serious determination in making integration within the CEMAC zone a concrete reality, the Parliament in a plenary sitting still through videoconferencing gave favourable views. The directives include the free moment of lawyers from one CEMAC country to another, free movement and settling of architects from one country to another, free movement and setting up and opening of tourism agencies and the organisation of travels by citizens of one country in another CEMAC member State. There are also draft directives related to the free movement and creation of educational institutions from the basic to higher educational and professional levels by citizens of one country in another, movement and settling of dentists, pharmacists, midwives, specialised nurses in reproductive health, as well as the free movement, setting up, implantation and opening of private health institutions by citizens of one CEMAC country in another. The Members of Parliament also gave their favourable view to the draft convention on vehicle licence partnership between CEMAC and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
