Founded by Jean LOBE LOBE in 2020 due to the need to connect patients to doctors online via video calls as opposed to the usual traveling long distances and/or standing in line for hours to see a doctor.
Waspito allows users to have instant video consultation with medical doctors from their smartphones. In addition, Waspito provides mobile laboratory services via the platform with a lab technician collecting samples from the comfort of users’ homes, with users receiving their results digitally. Payment is affordable and easy via mobile payments, debit cards or health insurance number. To date Waspito has served over 15K patients via the platform.
Waspito also has a health social network where users can interact anonymously in groups with medical doctors who provide preventive care tips and answers to all health questions, ensuring the privacy of users. Waspito has also partnered with Insurance companies to drive inclusivity of convenient healthcare access to its members.
This makes Waspito one of the most comprehensive platforms facilitating access to tele-health services across Cameroon and they plan to expand to 10 countries in the next 4 years.
Waspito has now raised 1,700,000,000FCFA in an oversubscribed seed round by Launch Africa Ventures, Newtown Partners via the Imperial Venture Fund, BLOC Smart Africa managed by Bamboo Capital Partners, Orange Ventures, Saviu Ventures, Plug & Play and BringCom.
The funding will be used to grow Waspito’s user base in Cameroon and to expand these services to Côte d'Ivoire. Waspito will also expand its service offering on the platform as it strives to connect Africa’s health ecosystem online to relieve the shortage of medical doctors and other health system challenges across the African continent.
The Waspito app can be used by everyone. Download it from Playstore or Appstore onto your mobile phones to talk to a doctor anywhere you are.
