First School Practical Exams : Pupils’ Knowledge On Craft, Cookery Under Test

The practical session of the 2021/2022 First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) examination for all primary school pupils in the Anglophone subsystem of education took place nationwide yesterday May 24, 2022. A team of Cameroon Tribune reporters visited some centres in the town of Yaounde during which it was noticed that the session was taking place hitch-free. Pupils’ practical skills in arts and craft, needle work and laundry, drawing and painting, hair dressing, agriculture, poultry and water purification were assessed. The practical session constitutes 30 points of the overall score of the entire FSLC examination which starts at 440 points. Statistics from the Centre Regional Delegation of Basic Education reveals that for the FSLC 2022 session some 12,970 boys and girls 13,655 registered for the exams. This gives a total of 26,625 candidates.
At the Biyem-Assi Sub-Centre, hosted at the Government Primary School Biyem-Assi, Yaounde, candidates from over 17 private and public primary schools had transformed the various classrooms into cooking sites, beauty salon or painting grounds. One of the candidates, Peter Egbe was seen drawing an effigy of the Head of State. Elanga Atega, another candidate from Government Primary School Biyem-Assi was carrying out make-up exercise on her nails and face. A candidate from the National Education Service School, Fodjo Giovonni Elton Ful, had just finished polishing a pair of black male shoes. When asked his choice of polishing a shoe, he said that will be his side job in the future.
