World sight day was placed under the theme: love your sight. How can someone love his or her sight?
Someone can love his or her sight by giving it the necessary care that it deserves. People need to keep their eyes from straining. An example is when using the computer, from time to time, people need to look away from the computer. This is to ensure that the eyes rest for awhile. In case glasses are needed, it is good to get the prescription from an eye specialist to avoid getting into unnecessary trouble. People should wear sunglasses in the sun to prevent the eyes from having retinal problem. Healthy diet is also advised to keep the eyes in good condition and to enable them to function better. Children need to spend at least 2 hours per day outside; this is to help their eyes develop better. Smoking can compromise a person’s vision. Individuals also need to exercise regularly to help bring oxygen into the eyes which are necessary for them to function better.
What are those common things that people do which expose their sight to danger?
The use of dangerous home remedies, for example, the squeezing of leaves and the pouring of other liquid is dangerous to the eyes. Such things infect or even burn the eyes resulting in loss of vision or even globe removal of the eyes. Some professionals are not using their protective glasses. Such is the case with welders. They expose the eyes to different types of injuries or even a global rupture of the eyes. Those who do not seek an eye care specialist when they have eye problem can lead to further damaging of the eyes. Rare are those who consult eye care specialists. Lack of check up can also lead to blindness, which is sometime case with glaucoma.
What are the common sight problems people face nowadays and how can they be prevented?
