Public Independent Conciliator : Institution’s Determination On Good Governance

An information and capacity building workshop was recently held with community-based actors to strengthen service delivery.

The resolve by the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator (PIC), to instil the culture of good governance in the grassroots areas of the North West Region is evident. It is against this backdrop that community - based actors have been empowered to feature as field partners to help matters for the PIC to deliver on good governance. They took home lessons on a PIC information and capacity building workshop on December 8th and 9th, 2022 in Bamenda. Launching the workshop, Public Independent Conciliator, Tamfu Simon Fai stressed the mission of the institution whose merits are summed up in efforts to amicably settle disputes and give social harmony a chance in a region that is not at peace with itself.
The workshop at the conference hall of the PIC edified the community-based actors on techniques of monitoring and documenting human right abuses, violations, analysing and reporting violations, techniques of information gathering and human right investigations, advocacy and protection of victims, working in a sensitive context etc. Participants were also drilled on advocacy and protection of victims of violations, working in a security sensitive context or better still how to stay safe and relevant in the face of the ongoing socio-political and security challenges rocking the region.
