Cameroonian At UN Appeals Tribunal : Justice Leslie Forbang Expresses Gratitude

He was received by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute on behalf of the Head of State on December 20, 2022.

The Cameroonian-born legal practitioner, Justice Leslie Forbang, recently elected Judge at the United Nations Tribunal, was at the Star Building to thank the Head of State for supporting his candidacy. He was received by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute on behalf of the Head of State on December 20, 2022. Justice Forbang, whose mandate begins on July 1, 2023 and ends on June 30, 2030, joins four other Judges to rule on litigations that will be brought before the Tribunal for their consideration. 
The legal practitioner who hails from the South West Region said it is an honour for Cameroon. “I extended my sincere gratitude to the Head of State for the support the State gave to my candidature, without which I would not have made it. It is true that the whole process entails a number of phases including the examination phase. After going through the examination phase, eight of us were retained and it had to pass through elections. Definitely, the State needed to give their backing and indeed the Head of State gave his ok. Of course profiting from the rich reputation he enjoys in the international community, I was elected one of the four titular judges of the United Nations Appeals Tribunal,” he stated. 
Highlighting on why it is an honour for the country, Justice Forbang said, “if you followed the proceedings, it goes to establish the fact that our judicial system is credible and vibrant, and our training programme of legal officers is equally credible.”
