Fight Against Corruption : CONSUPE, Lawmakers Synergise

A working session held between the two parties on January 16, 2023 in Yaounde.
Members of the Parliamentary Network for the Fight Against Corruption (APNAC) on January 16, 2023 met with the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of the Supreme State Office, Mbah Acha Rose to elaborate on cooperation mechanisms in the fight against corruption in the country. Led by Hon. Essomba Bengono, the lawmakers were meeting with the officials of the Supreme State Office within the framework of their earmarked encounters with 15 ministerial departments. Their mission, the President of APNAC said, is to construct institutional convergence on the promotion of governance and proper management of State funds. President Paul Biya, he noted, according to his policies is greatly involved in the fight against corruption in the country and it is their duty to accompany the Head of State in that direction. The reports of their meetings with various officials, Hon. Essomba Bengono said, will be transmitted to their hierarchy and a second phase of consultations will be held. “Basically, we are here to better understand the mission and activities of CONSUPE in the fight against corruption. We know it is not an easy task, but it is our goal to work together so that the malpractice can be minimised in the society,” Hon. Essomba Bengono noted. He also revealed that they plan on having a special plenary session in March on the extractive industries sector where clarifications will be presented to Members of the National Assembly on activities in the mining sector, from award of contracts to exploitation.
