Officials are fine-tuning their various lists to subsequently deposit them at the elections management body within the stipulated deadline.
Political parties are finalising various documents of candidates and lists for the senatorial election. This is to make sure that they deposit the said files at Elections Cameroon (ELECAM) within the stipulated deadline (15 days after the convening of the electorate).
At the Cameroon Democratic Union (CDU), the technical committee put in place by the National President after the convening of the electorate is firming up to have their documents at ELECAM latest on the eve of the deadline. They have a well-structured roadmap which is being respected. A member of the political bureau noted that they started meeting on January 16, 2023 to conclude on the procedure of selection of candidates and the constitution of their lists. He noted that they are constituting their lists based on benchmarks spelled out by the political bureau. He adds that the technical committee is equally looking at ensuring that retained candidates for the senatorial election can bring victory to the party.
Within the National Union for Democracy and Progress (NUDP), conclusions have been made on the lists in the Far North and North Regions. At the moment, they are concluding in the Adamawa Region and will definitely round off with the East Region on Friday January 27, 2023. Operations, he noted, are being supervised by the party’s National President.
The ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) party is not left behind either.
