The call was made by Bernard Okalia Bilai as he acquainted himself with the services of the institution on January 27, 2023.
South West Regional Governor, Bernard Okalia Bilai, has urged regional and local council authorities of the region to work closely with the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator (OPIC), in order to adequately serve the population. Visiting the Office of Public Independent Conciliator and acquainting himself to its services on January 27, 2023, Governor Okalia Bilai used the occasion to exhort stakeholders to collaborate with those of the institution, so as to fully meet their expectations. “We have realized that all the institutions put in place after the Major National Dialogue are operational in the South West Region. There is no need to go to the bushes and carry guns. The Head of State has put in place local institutions that can assist the population in solving their problems and I expect the stakeholders, population, external and internal elites to make good use of those institutions to render them very fruitful for the entire population,” Governor Okalia Bilai said.
The stopover was an opportunity for all to further understand the missions of the institution which are to strengthen collaboration with council authorities of the region to examine and amicably settle disputes between users of local councils and regional assembly administrators, defend and implement measures to prevent and combat direct or indirect discrimination that may affect users of regional or local council services, ensuring that persons serving in the regional or local council administrations comply with their ethical obligations.
