Senatorial Election : ELECAM Appreciates Voting Process

In a press statement yesterday, the Director General of Elections at ELECAM, Dr Erik Essousse said everything took place in conformity with the law.
The Director General of Elections at Elections Cameroon (ELECAM), Dr. Erik Essousse, in a press declaration yesterday March 12, 2023 at the close of polls nationwide for the Senatorial election said the institution appreciates the serenity and maturity with which the voting process unfolded in all 58 Divisions of the country. He noted that no major incident was recorded in the 198 polling stations in the ten regions of the country that expected some 11,134 electors. All ten political parties, he noted participated in the election. “The election took place under the right conditions and Local Polling Commission Chairpersons were present to conduct the election in accordance with the law,” the Director General of Elections stated. Dr Erik Essousse further stated that, as stipulated by the law, the Local Polling Commissions will count the votes and fill in the report forms and every member of the Commission will sign before an onward transmission to the Regional Commission for the Counting of Votes. Going by the Electoral Code and as stated by the Director General of Elections, the National Commission for the Final Counting of Votes shall equally carry out its responsibilities before the proclamation of results by the Constitutional Council; the institution charged with ensuring the regularity of the Senatorial election.
