Elections Cameroon : Incumbent Activities After Voting Phase

Officials of the elections management body are participating in the national counting g votes as well as preparing for post-electoral disputes which begin today.
As the elections management institution of the country, Elections Cameroon (ELECAM), actively participates in every stage of the electoral process, till the results of the Senatorial election are published by the Constitutional Council. After having successfully organised the first phase of the electoral process which consisted in the voting on March 12, 2023, Elections Cameroon is currently participating and ensuring inclusiveness and credibility in the other phases that will conclude with the proclamation of results in the days ahead.
At the moment, ELECAM is participating in the final counting of votes for the Senatorial election. Five officials of the institution, appointed by the Director General of Elections, are members of the National Commission for the Final Counting of Votes. The composition for the Commission was already approved by a resolution of the Electoral Board and notified to the Constitutional Council and made available to the public. Going by the Electoral Code, the Commission shall carry out the final counting of votes on basis of reports and appended documents submitted by Divisional Supervisory Commissions. “It shall correct any clerical errors in the counting of votes. However, it shall not cancel the corresponding reports. The final counting of votes shall be public and shall take place at the seat of the Constitutional Council,” states paragraphs two and three of Section 69 of the Electoral Code.
