Cross MINDEF 2023 : Abbo Youssao Lifts Trophy

At the eve of the 2023 National Day, the traditional Cross Country event organised by the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) took place on May 19, 2023 in Yaounde. It was as from 6 a.m. that the kick-offs of the different categories of the 11th edition of the MINDEF Cross were given at the “Monument du soldat inconnu”, around the Military Stadium. In the -35 years’ category, the Second Class Soldier of the First Joint Military Region, Abbo Youssao finished champion just like in the previous edition of the event. The finish line was at the Esplanade of the Headquarters Brigade in Yaounde and Abbo ran through the 14km800m parcour in 49’57’’. It should be said that the distance was increased from the approximately 9km in the previous edition to 14km800m this year.
In the 35 and plus category, Roland Nyame emerged champion finishing first of the 14km800m parcour in 52’20’’ while Bella Mboro in the women’s category was the fastest as she completed the same distance in 1h7’12’’. The laureates who finished on the podium were handed medals and trophies same day during a ceremony chaired by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge Defence, Joseph Beti Assomo at the 101 Airbase.
