Women In Uniform : Yes…They Spiced The Show!

From all segments of country’s defence and security services, they demonstrated their prowess in nation building.

Celebrations marking the 51st anniversary of the Unitary State of Cameroon would have been incomplete without women. The female folk from all walks of life, particularly those in the defence and security services on May 20th, 2023 marched-past in an aesthetic and colourful manner at the 20th May Avenue in a bid to boost celebrations marking the day. To the rhythm of the bands of the Presidential Guard, the National Gendarmerie, the Army, and the National Police, the ladies in their uniforms marched-past in front of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Paul Biya. With their arms on their weapons, the women revealed: “We are no longer the weaker group of people in society.” This drew applause from spectators.
The First Lady of Cameroon, Chantal Biya, was also present at the ceremonial ground with a special thumbs-up to the women. Such was a sign to say, “Yes, women too can!” Alongside their male counterparts, in bold and close-order, the women marched to the command of the Commander of the Troops, Brigadier General, Bouba Dobekreo. Some of the squares were commanded by women. To the rhythm of the National Police Band, Police Commissioner, Pascaline Ngono Ngoa, commanded a Police unit on foot as they marched-past at the 20th May Avenue.
